Bubbles & Beyond: The Doctor-Led Startup Bringing Artisanal Self-Care to Sri Lanka

Founded in 2023 by Dr. Wathsadani Wijayasundara, Bubbles & Beyond has quickly become one of Sri Lanka’s most loved artisanal bath and body brands.

What began as a small home studio has blossomed into a purpose-driven venture that celebrates self-care, creativity, and conscious living. For a business only a few years old, that is a fast rise — and a good example of how a startup can grow from a personal passion into a recognised brand.

From Medicine to Making

Dr. Wathsadani is a medical doctor turned entrepreneur. That background shows in the products themselves.

She blends science, Ayurveda, and artistry to create luxurious handcrafted products. The range covers soothing soaps and bath bombs, aromatic candles, and shampoo bars. Each one is made with skin-loving oils, botanicals, and gentle fragrances.

The combination is an unusual one. Scientific understanding of ingredients, traditional Ayurvedic knowledge, and a designer’s eye rarely sit in the same person, and that mix is a large part of what makes the brand distinctive.

Self-Care as Something More

For the founder, the products are meant to do more than clean.

“At Bubbles & Beyond, we believe self-care should be more than a daily routine — it should be a moment of magic. Our mission is to craft products that heal, uplift, and inspire mindfulness in everyday life.”

That idea shapes the whole range. The products are built around the experience of using them, not just the result.

Rooted in Values

Today, Bubbles & Beyond stands as a proud Sri Lankan brand rooted in integrity, sustainability, and compassion.

Every creation reflects the brand’s promise: luxury with heart, crafted for those who believe that even the simplest bath deserves to feel extraordinary.

A Growing Space

Handmade bath and body care has grown steadily in recent years, both locally and worldwide, as more customers look for natural ingredients and small-batch quality. Bubbles & Beyond sits comfortably in that space, with the added strength of a founder who understands both the science and the tradition behind what she makes.

Within the startup Sri Lanka community, it is also a reminder that a business can begin at home, on a small scale, and still build a loyal following — provided the product and the values behind it are genuine.
