The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to establish a network of link roads connecting Sections I, III and IV of the Central Expressway with the existing road network in the Western, Central and North Western Provinces.
The proposed development is intended to enhance connectivity to the expressway, improve access to surrounding areas and facilitate more efficient traffic movement across the regions.
Under the project, 12 link roads covering 117.68 kilometres will be developed to connect with Section I of the Central Expressway. Section III will be connected through 14 link roads spanning 83.98 kilometres, while nine additional link roads covering 81.36 kilometres are planned for Section IV.
The total provisional investment required for the project has been estimated at Rs. 104.9 billion.
The Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, with implementation scheduled for the 2026–2030 period.
