Meet Induranga Randika, Founder of BizBirth: Helping Sri Lankan Entrepreneurs Go Global

Induranga Randika is the founder of BizBirth, a Sri Lankan company formation and global business services platform redefining how local entrepreneurs access international markets. Driven by a belief that talent should never be limited by geography, Induranga has spent years building at the intersection of business, technology, and cross-border compliance.

The Wall Every Sri Lankan Founder Hits

You build something good. The work is solid, the clients are real, the ambition is there. And then the world asks you a question you can’t answer: where is your company registered? Suddenly a talented developer in Kandy or a marketer in Colombo is locked out of contracts, platforms and customers — not because of skill, but because of paperwork written for someone else’s passport.

Induranga hit that wall too. He just decided not to walk away from it.

The Problem Nobody Was Solving

Back in 2021, forming a company abroad from Sri Lanka meant one of three things: an overpriced foreign agency that treated you like a ticket number, a middleman who disappeared once payment cleared, or weeks of tutorials and forum threads that contradicted each other. Nobody was doing it properly. Nobody was doing it locally.

So he started BizBirth — with a simple, almost stubborn idea: a Sri Lankan founder should be able to call a real person, speak in Sinhala or English, and get a straight answer about their own business.

Learning the Hard Way, So Others Don’t Have To

The early years were not glamorous. They were buried in the fine print of jurisdictions most people have never thought about — Wyoming, Montana, Delaware, the UK, Ontario. Learning which one actually makes sense for a freelancer versus an e-commerce seller versus a SaaS startup. Learning what happens when an application gets rejected, when a document is filed wrong, when a compliance deadline quietly passes.

Three years of that produces something you can’t shortcut: Induranga and his team have now handled just about every scenario a non-US business owner can run into. That experience is the actual product. The registration certificate is just the receipt.

A Thousand Founders Later

Today, over a thousand Sri Lankan entrepreneurs have launched their global companies through BizBirth. Formations that once dragged on for months now move in days.

But read what his clients say and you notice something else. They rarely talk about filings. They talk about him. About sending a message and actually getting a reply. About someone explaining the whole thing clearly before taking any money. About questions answered outside US business hours, because a founder in Sri Lanka doesn’t stop worrying at 5pm EST.

The Bigger Picture

What Induranga built isn’t really a company formation service. It’s infrastructure for ambition — a way for Sri Lankan talent to stop being gated out of markets it already deserves to be in.

The gap between a Sri Lankan founder and a global business was never talent. It was access. He closed it. And he’s not finished yet.

Sri Lanka has launched this year’s petroleum exploration licensing round for the Mannar Basin, with the official launch taking place on August 25 at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation headquarters. Organised by the Petroleum Development Authority of Sri Lanka, the event was held under the patronage of Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka and Labour Minister and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha. Under the latest licensing round, four exploration blocks covering approximately 34,000 square kilometres in the Mannar Basin will be offered to international energy companies for further exploration. The Ministry said previous exploration activities in the basin had confirmed the presence of petroleum and natural gas, including discoveries of natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons. Petroleum Development Authority Director General Neil de Silva said the basin’s largely unexplored areas present significant opportunities for international investors to undertake further exploration using modern geological surveying methods and advanced technologies. He added that prospective companies would also have access to geological information on the Mannar Basin held by the Authority. According to de Silva, existing geological data suggests that the Mannar Basin could hold around 2 billion barrels of petroleum and 9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, with the potential for these resources to be commercially recovered through drilling.
