In this Disclaimer, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Startup Media (Pvt) Ltd, a company incorporated in Sri Lanka under registration number PV 00359082, having its registered office at 30/1, Kandumulla, Ambagaspitiya, Gampaha, Sri Lanka, trading as “Startup Sri Lanka”.

All information on the Site is published in good faith. However, we make no representation or warranty of any kind, express or implied, as to the accuracy, adequacy, validity, reliability, availability or completeness of any information on the Site.

Any reliance you place on material published on the Site is strictly at your own risk. Under no circumstance shall we have any liability to you for any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of the Site or reliance on any information provided on it. Your use of the Site and your reliance on any information is solely at your own risk. This Disclaimer should be read together with the limitation of liability in our Terms and Conditions.

2. Not professional advice

Nothing on the Site constitutes financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting, medical or other professional advice, and nothing on the Site should be relied upon as such.

Our reporting on startups, businesses, funding, technology and the economy is journalism and commentary. It is not a recommendation to buy, sell, invest in, join, partner with, or transact with any company, individual or product mentioned.

No content on the Site is an offer, solicitation, inducement or recommendation to buy or sell any security, share, convertible instrument, token, fund interest or other financial product. We are not licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka or the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and we do not provide any regulated financial service.

Always consult a suitably qualified and, where relevant, licensed professional — an accountant, attorney-at-law, licensed investment adviser or other appropriate specialist — before making any financial, legal or business decision. Reading the Site, contacting us, or corresponding with us does not create any professional, advisory, fiduciary or attorney-client relationship.

The Site carries paid advertising, sponsored articles, branded content, promoted listings and event partnerships. This is how our journalism is funded.

Forward-looking statements — including projections, targets, launch dates, expansion plans and growth expectations — are inherently uncertain and may not come to pass. They are not promises, by us or by the companies concerned.
Information becomes outdated. An article is accurate as at its date of publication. Companies pivot, raise further capital, change leadership, restructure or cease operations. We are under no obligation to update past articles, and the presence of an article on the Site does not mean its contents remain current.

We do not verify the factual assertions or claims of qualification made by guest contributors and interviewees. Publication does not imply agreement or endorsement.

The Site contains, and may direct you to, links to third-party websites, applications, social media accounts and content. These links are provided for your convenience and information only.

Such external links are not investigated, monitored, verified or checked by us for accuracy, adequacy, validity, reliability, availability or completeness. We do not warrant, endorse, guarantee or assume responsibility for the accuracy or reliability of any information offered by third-party websites, or for any product or service advertised or offered by a third party.

We are not a party to, and will not be responsible for monitoring, any transaction between you and a third party.

7. Fraud, scams and unlicensed schemes

Please exercise particular caution before responding to any solicitation for investment, deposits, loans, foreign exchange trading, cryptocurrency schemes or “guaranteed return” opportunities, whether encountered through the Site or elsewhere.

Deposit-taking and investment services in Sri Lanka generally require licensing by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka or the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka. Verify a provider’s licence directly with the relevant regulator before parting with money.

We do not endorse any such scheme. If you believe fraudulent or unlicensed material has appeared on the Site, including in an advertisement or comment, please tell us at info@startuplk.com and we will investigate.

We will never contact you asking for payment to feature your startup in our editorial coverage, and we will never ask you for banking passwords, OTPs or card details. If you receive such a request purporting to come from Startup Sri Lanka, treat it as fraudulent and report it to us.

8. Errors and corrections

We aim to report accurately, and we correct significant errors promptly and transparently.

If you believe we have published something inaccurate, misleading or unfair about you or your organisation, contact us at info@startuplk.com with the article link and the specific point at issue, together with any supporting information. We will review it and, where a correction is warranted, publish one.

9. Intellectual property of others

Company names, product names, logos and trademarks appearing on the Site are the property of their respective owners. Their use on the Site is for identification and reporting purposes only and does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from those owners.

Where we reproduce third-party material, we do so with permission, under licence, or in reliance on the fair-dealing provisions of the Intellectual Property Act No. 36 of 2003. If you believe your rights have been infringed, contact us and we will respond promptly.
