Founded at 15, Leading at 16: The Quick Solutions Story

Most founders in the startup Sri Lanka ecosystem start after university. Chathusha Damsara started before finishing school. He founded Quick Solutions in February 2025 at the age of 15, and at 16 he now leads the company as CEO.

Quick Solutions is a software and digital solutions company built on a straightforward premise: businesses need websites, applications and custom software delivered quickly and reliably, and plenty of them struggle to find a partner who does both.

What the company builds

The portfolio covers websites, custom software, mobile applications and broader digital products — the core needs of a business trying to establish or rebuild its online presence.

The positioning is in the name. Speed is the promise, alongside reliability and a focus on customer outcomes rather than deliverables for their own sake.

Working across five markets

In its first year and a half, Quick Solutions has taken on projects for clients in Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Australia.

That spread reflects something structural about the current software market. Client relationships that once required an office and a decade of reputation can now begin with a portfolio and a video call, which lowers the barrier for founders operating outside traditional business networks — including very young ones.

Damsara now leads a team of more than fifteen professionals, most of them considerably older than the founder.

Managing a team at sixteen

The obvious question is how a teenager runs a company of that size, and the honest answer is that the technical work is often the easier part. Delegation, client expectations, hiring, pricing, cash flow — these are learned under pressure, and Damsara is learning them earlier than almost anyone.

His stated priorities are innovation, customer success and long-term growth, with the ambition of building Quick Solutions into a globally recognised technology company known for speed, quality and trust.

Worth watching

Founder stories this early are difficult to assess. The durable question is not whether a 16-year-old can win clients — clearly he can — but whether the company outlasts the novelty of its origin story and becomes simply a good software firm that happens to have a young founder.

On the evidence so far, that outcome looks entirely possible.

  • Sri Lanka has launched this year’s petroleum exploration licensing round for the Mannar Basin, with the official launch taking place on August 25 at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation headquarters. Organised by the Petroleum Development Authority of Sri Lanka, the event was held under the patronage of Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka and Labour Minister and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha. Under the latest licensing round, four exploration blocks covering approximately 34,000 square kilometres in the Mannar Basin will be offered to international energy companies for further exploration. The Ministry said previous exploration activities in the basin had confirmed the presence of petroleum and natural gas, including discoveries of natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons. Petroleum Development Authority Director General Neil de Silva said the basin’s largely unexplored areas present significant opportunities for international investors to undertake further exploration using modern geological surveying methods and advanced technologies. He added that prospective companies would also have access to geological information on the Mannar Basin held by the Authority. According to de Silva, existing geological data suggests that the Mannar Basin could hold around 2 billion barrels of petroleum and 9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, with the potential for these resources to be commercially recovered through drilling.
