FIXIE: A Sri Lankan Startup Creating Opportunity for Workers at Home

In a world where many Sri Lankan domestic workers feel pressured to leave their families behind in search of better opportunities abroad, FIXIE is here to change the narrative.

Building Careers Locally

Launched by Mint Ventures Private Limited, FIXIE empowers skilled local workers to elevate their careers, build their own businesses, and thrive right here at home.

That framing sets the platform apart. Rather than treating overseas work as the only route to a better income, FIXIE is built on the idea that the same skills can support a strong living locally — without the separation from family that migration usually involves.

Fast Payments at the Core

The team is also developing what it describes as Sri Lanka’s fastest payment gateway, offering settlements in as little as six hours.

For service providers, settlement speed is not a technical detail. Many domestic workers are paid daily or weekly and rely on that income immediately. Waiting several days for money to clear can make a platform impractical, no matter how good the job matching is.

More Than a Payments Platform

FIXIE goes beyond payments. It is a platform built on family unity, local opportunity, and community upliftment.

By connecting trusted domestic service providers with homeowners, FIXIE ensures reliable work for providers and dependable service for households.

That two-sided benefit is the practical heart of the model. Providers gain a steady stream of work without having to find clients on their own, while homeowners gain access to service providers they can trust.

Currently in Alpha

FIXIE is currently in its alpha phase and is gearing up for its official launch.

The company describes the goal as bringing a new era of dignity, opportunity, and empowerment to Sri Lanka’s workforce.

Why It Matters

Domestic and skilled service work supports a large number of households across the country, yet much of it still runs on informal arrangements, word of mouth, and cash payments.

A platform that formalises that work — with verified providers, reliable job flow, and fast settlement — addresses a genuine gap.

For the startup Sri Lanka community, FIXIE is also a reminder that technology does not always have to chase global markets. Some of the most meaningful products are the ones that solve a local problem for the people living with it every day.
