Sri Lanka and Brazil held the Second Round of Bilateral Political Consultations in Colombo, strengthening long standing ties between the two countries.

The meeting was co-chaired by Aruni Ranaraja and Susan Kleebank, reviewing progress since 2022 and identifying new areas of cooperation.

Both sides agreed to boost bilateral trade to USD 1 billion by 2030 and expand collaboration across key sectors, including agriculture, ports, sports, and economic development.

They also committed to finalizing pending agreements on defence, law enforcement, traditional medicine, and diplomatic training, while advancing joint projects such as dairy livestock and sugarcane initiatives.

Discussions included preparations for President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s upcoming visit to Brazil and plans to revive parliamentary exchanges.

The talks reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to deeper cooperation in bilateral and global forums.
