From Sri Lanka to the World: Yasith Sirisena’s Vision for an Immersive Tech Unicorn
Yasith Sirisena’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2018, when he founded his first startup, Prodigi Interactive. Driven by a fascination with technology, games, and digital experiences, Yasith stepped into entrepreneurship at a time when Sri Lanka’s startup ecosystem was still emerging.
What followed was a journey through multiple startups, projects, and ventures spanning software development, game development, creative technology, and interactive experiences. Each venture brought new challenges, failures, relationships, and lessons that shaped his understanding of technology and entrepreneurship.
In 2019, Yasith pursued one of his boldest ideas yet: Threta, envisioned as South Asia’s first indie AAA game. The ambition was enormous. Building a AAA-scale game from South Asia, with limited resources and a relatively young game development ecosystem, required Yasith and his team to push far beyond conventional boundaries.
The project became more than a game development journey. It became a lesson in building ambitious technology products, assembling talent, solving complex technical challenges, and thinking beyond the limitations of geography.
Those experiences eventually led to a much bigger vision.
In August 2023, Lucido saw the light of day.
Lucido began as an immersive technology company working across Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Simulations, Gamification, 3D technologies, and human-computer interaction.
But Lucido’s ambition goes far beyond creating experiences for brands.
The company is exploring R&D and immersive applications across healthcare, government, construction, architecture, engineering, education, training, manufacturing, tourism, defence, emergency preparedness, enterprise technology, and digital twins.
The goal is to use immersive technology not simply to entertain, but to simulate, train, visualize, educate, solve problems, and transform how people interact with complex information and environments.
Yasith’s long-term vision is even bigger: to build a billion-dollar immersive technology company from Sri Lanka, scale across South Asia, and eventually compete on the global stage.
South Asia, with more than two billion people and rapidly growing digital economies, represents an enormous opportunity in a global immersive technology industry projected to reach over $170 billion. Yasith believes the region should not only consume the technologies of tomorrow, but build them, own them, and export them to the world.
For him, Sri Lanka is the starting point, not the boundary.
Lucido is currently developing proprietary technology, scalable platforms, intellectual property, AI-powered systems, simulations, digital twins, and immersive products that can serve markets around the world.
From Prodigi Interactive in 2018, to Threta in 2019, to Lucido in 2023, the journey has always been driven by the same instinct: think bigger than what seems possible.
Now, the ambition is clear.
Build in Sri Lanka. Scale across South Asia. Go global.
