From a Borrowed Computer in Northern Sri Lanka to Global Markets: The Story of Sharanyan Sharma

Meet Sharanyan Sharma, Founder of Prime One Global and Founder & Managing Director of Altitude1. A Sri Lankan entrepreneur, he has built a global performance marketing and business intelligence ecosystem from his beginnings in Northern Sri Lanka.

His story started in the most modest of circumstances. What began as freelance SEO work on a borrowed computer and a dial-up internet connection eventually evolved into a structured international business serving clients across the US, UK, and Europe. His journey reflects how necessity, resilience, and the ability to adapt to changing market expectations can shape a global business.

Early Beginnings: Extreme SEO

Sharanyan’s early venture, Extreme SEO, began as a solo operation while he was still completing his BSc in IT at SLIIT. In those early years, the work was centred on what most clients expected from digital marketing at the time: website traffic and online visibility.

As client expectations evolved beyond traffic and visibility, however, Sharanyan recognised a growing demand for something more: measurable business outcomes. This realisation led to a strategic transformation. Extreme SEO became Prime One Global, and the company’s focus shifted from traditional digital marketing toward performance marketing built around three core principles: precision, performance, and partnerships.

Prime One Global: Marketing Built on Measurable Outcomes

Today, Prime One Global operates with market-specific strategies across international regions. The company supports B2B technology companies, e-commerce and direct-to-consumer brands, and businesses seeking data-driven growth.

At the heart of its approach is a focus on measurable outcomes. Rather than treating marketing as an isolated activity, Prime One Global helps clients connect their marketing efforts directly with customer acquisition, revenue, and overall business performance.

Altitude1: Business and Market Intelligence

Building on this experience, Sharanyan has also founded Altitude1, an emerging MarTech agency specialising in business and market intelligence. Through data-driven intelligence and strategic insights, Altitude1 helps global brands make informed decisions as they launch, expand, and compete in new markets.

Growth with Operational Discipline

Sharanyan’s journey also highlights the importance of operational discipline alongside growth. Rapid expansion can bring its own challenges, and he experienced these first-hand. In response, he strengthened the business through clearer service structures, sound financial management, and performance-focused processes, ensuring that growth was built on a stable foundation.

A Broader Philosophy

Today, his ventures reflect a broader philosophy: digital marketing should not simply generate visibility, but create measurable value for businesses. By combining performance marketing, data intelligence, behavioural insights, and marketing technology, Sharanyan Sharma continues to build globally focused companies from a Sri Lankan foundation.

From Survival to Scalable Global Opportunity

From a small Northern Sri Lankan town to international markets, Sharanyan Sharma’s story demonstrates how a digital-first business can evolve from survival into a scalable global opportunity. It is a reminder that with resilience, adaptability, and a clear focus on delivering real value, a global business can be built from anywhere.
