Global demand for Sri Lankan agricultural products has recorded a significant increase, according to the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship.
Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe stated that agricultural exports grew by 20 percent last year, highlighting the strong rise in demand for Sri Lankan products in international markets.
Coconut-based products accounted for the largest share of agricultural exports at 42 percent, followed by fruits at 21 percent and vegetables at 20 percent.
The Deputy Minister noted that Sri Lanka is likely to attract increased investment into the agricultural sector in the coming years.
He further said the government intends to expand opportunities and provide greater support for organic products as part of its efforts to strengthen and broaden Sri Lanka’s agricultural exports.
